IT builds a new help desk system for the organization where this pilot fish works, and it's a big improvement.

"Now users could enter help desk tickets from anywhere and have the ticket routed to the right person," says fish.

"Our CIO made the decision that this help desk could be used for anything, PC-related or not. For example, it could be used for building maintenance requests.

"About three days into the new help desk, a ticket is entered requesting building service -- there was a window leaking.

"My CIO was reading all of the calls. To this one he dutifully responded: 'Please enter your version of Windows when opening a ticket.'"

you need to change the system font to UniSun to see chinese in xpod. You can do that by tweak. most notepad cannot save chinese. use editor that support unicode. pocket scheme has a unicode editor. the registry file was posted.

Monster Chinese

[color=#6dff00:8228deeb25][/color:8228deeb25]

Maction Technology released Monster Chinese to support Be300. I tried installing it with Xpod 4.0 and works fine. However, the download will expire in 15 days.

Setting up Chinese is nice in ***** 5.0. It runs very smoothly.

To set the ability to read and write in Chinese follow these steps.

Go to www.Mobem.com and download the full version of CE-Star.

Connect to Activesync and start the installer for CE-Star. When you get to the screen that gives you the options of what to install, check that you want to install on Storage Card, and leave everything else unchecked. (Warning, if anything besides "Storage Card" is check you BE will lockup and you will have to restore to get it back working.) To install writing ability you do need some options but we will manuelly copy the needed files later.

After you have installed CE-Star open up the Windows explorer by tapping the Xpod icon. Look in the Windows folder and find Sung14.ttc. Copy and paste this file into Nanddisk/program files/patch.

Next, from start menu programs/utilities, tap on the regedit icon and then just close it by going to File/Exit. (Don't just close by tapping the X.) A flushreg program is run when you Exit the regedit program so changes made by the CE-Star installer in your BE's registry will stay after reseting your BE.

Reset your BE via the side hole reset button. There is a Chinese reader called eshutang in this thread that can be downloaded. www.oldrain.org and http://eyeslook.vip.myrice.com/book have literature in Chinese for downloading.

This much should be enough for most users. I have not found the functuality of writing Chinese on the BE very useful yet. Perhaps someone with experience in using ceditor could tell us how to use it. I have only been able to write in notepad but once I exit I cannot read the txt that is created.

To setup the ability to write:

Connect to Activesync, copy and paste (from your PC) pensip.dll and wxecode.dll from the MIPS folder in the CE-Star folder to nanddisk/program files folder. Also, copy and paste the entire contents of the MIPS folder to the Storage Card/CE-Star folder. In this thread there is a file called Pensip or Pen. It is a registry file needed to change the registry so you can input Chinese. Download it and transfer it to your BE, using regedit, import the file into the registry and then Exit. Reset your BE and you are done.

Once your BE starts back up go into the Control Panel and and tap on the Input Panel icon. You should see a Penpower option. Using that as the input option allows you to write in Chinese. I haven't found the CE-Star choice to do anything for me except default back to the key board.

So hopefully someone who has used it alot can explain the full options and power of using it.

Life just got easier for all those wanting Chinese on their BE.

If you go to http://www.mactiontech.com/english/download.htm

and download Monster Chinese for the BE. There is a BE installer and everything!!!! Just install it through PC Connect and you can read Chinese just fine on your BE. To Change the font go to Start/program/utility/tweak. Under font change it to Unisun.

Now, here is the big part about it. The download comes in a zip format. Once you unzip it you will see two folders. One is the Kernal and the other is for their Input system. The input system works for 15 days until you must register it.

The kernal side which you install to be able to read Chinese also comes with a thing called MNotepad. You can use that to create and edit chinese documents. I have even been able to send the documents to my PC and open them up in Word to print. To be able to write for free in MNotepad(no registration needed for MNotepad, it will work forever) you need CE-Star. You don't need to install CE-Star. Just copy Pensip.dll and wxecode.dll from the Mips folder in whatever folder you unzip CE-Star into on your PC to the Nanddisk/Program Files on your BE.

You can modify the registry yourself or if some nice person using Chinese on their BE would upload that registry file to here, (I should learn how to upload to this forum) you could just import the file into your registry and you have it.

Read the instuctions for changing Input Panels the post about installing to Epods 5.0.

One thing. It seems in Epods 5.0, after I install MNotepad, my BE is unstable for awhile untill Epods tells me it has crashed. Then it seems fine.

I frogot one thing, or I just learned about it. Go ahead and install CE-Star to your CF card before you install Monster Chinese if you want to write in Chinese. Some of the files to make penpower work need to be in the CE-Star folder. After installing CE-Star, don't flushreg, don't copy sung14.ttc to the patch folder, just reboot. Then install Mnotepad.

ykchin88, if you are already using penpower in xpod 4.0 it will work in 5.0. It is the same registry file. I did froget one thing about using Penpower in 5.0, after installing everything you need to go into tweak and under the input icon you need to check the box next to penpower to see the penpower option in the control panel. I like the SIP selector under xpod 4.0 because it makes switching input choices quick vs having to go into control panel all the time when changing language input.

I learned something new today, from mike's website is a C programing editor for the BE. That editor supports Chinese and you can even make programs with outputs in Chinese.
