More IT Fun

IT builds a new help desk system for the organization where this pilot fish works, and it's a big improvement.

"Now users could enter help desk tickets from anywhere and have the ticket routed to the right person," says fish.

"Our CIO made the decision that this help desk could be used for anything, PC-related or not. For example, it could be used for building maintenance requests.

"About three days into the new help desk, a ticket is entered requesting building service -- there was a window leaking.

"My CIO was reading all of the calls. To this one he dutifully responded: 'Please enter your version of Windows when opening a ticket.'"

Slamming, Phreaking And " AirG " Whatever That is.

Okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk... Today I looked at my phone bill...To my surprise it was 30 dollars over the normal billing. After analyzing the bill, which in itself is not small task, I noticed charges dating back to April 16 in very small amounts ranging from .49 cents to $2.99. The charges totaled out at $10.

All of these charges were marked by ATT as AirG VAS followed by the date. Doing a little Google for AirG, I came up with the following results:

http://www.airg.com/

A company I had never heard of, and I know alot of companies in the phone/net game. Apparently they are a social networking site for the phone crowd, boasting 20 million worldwide subscribers. Everyone that knows me knows how I feel about using social networking sites, not my interest. I have several phones on my account and, not one of them has ever subscribed to "AirG". These guys are charging my account without my consent!

Again with the Okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk...First stop after the Memorial Day Holiday is ATT to get these charges from this company, which she promptly removed. The stop after finishing this article is an email to their corporate, support and press people. Let's see where this goes shall we?

Yup it's the real world ct; this stuff goes on all the time. My answer is NOT ON MY PHONE IT DOESN'T. The bottom line is this: Check your bill every month and, if you notice any discrepencies, complain ASAP.

Not a doubt in my mind ATT will remove these charges. Stay tuned: I'll let you know later as to whether or not "AirG" responds to my emails.

0900hrs. Day 2 report

After talking with ATT, Charges have been removed from my bill and, the customer service agent found more charges. Here's what we did also, I asked her "Is there any way I can have purchases from my phone blocked? She said "Why yes, yes there is." Advice here, put a purchase block on your phone, that way you need to enter a PIN before a purchase can be made from your phone. This will stop a myriad of problems!

Also, on one of my other phones, I was receiving text messages from people I don't know. Stuff like "Josu, meet me at Toys R Us"...I do not know a Josu...The ATT girl was really helpful with this as well, that line is now blocked from sending or receiving test messages. Check with your phone companies and fast help awaits, or should!

Now, let's see if AirG responds to my emails...

0900 hrs. Day 4

I waited an extra day to update this not. No response yet from AirG. Let's let it go to the end of the week shall we?

Well it's been over a week now

Seems this company does not answer it's emails regarding the charges they place on other people's phones without their permission, doesn't think one reporter's make any difference, just plain doesn't care, or.......??? Who knows, who cares...At least ATT worked with me to solve the problem. I know one company I certainly would not use though, if I were so inclined to begin with.

Ta ta for now all. Happy Smart-phoning!
